About

Board of Directors

The Board is comprised of professionals with extensive experience in government, technology, and business. All five board members serve as volunteers and participate in their personal capacities, independent of any elected, appointed, or professional positions they may hold with government entities.

Tyler Miller

Tyler Miller

Tyler Miller is the founder, Chairman and Treasurer of the Columbia Public Safety Alliance and brings experience spanning public safety, technology, business, and local government. He is also the founder and former CEO of Miller Mendel, Inc., a public safety technology company established in 2009 that he led until its acquisition in 2026. The company developed technology used by hundreds of law enforcement and other public safety agencies nationwide to modernize their internal business processes.

Tyler's public service experience includes more than ten years in law enforcement roles, including sworn law enforcement service, as well as service as an elected city councilor since 2020 and on a 9-1-1 board of directors. During his sworn law enforcement service, Tyler received a Medal of Valor from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and a Distinguished Action Award from the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association. Following the sale of Miller Mendel, Inc., Tyler has increasingly focused on philanthropy and initiatives involving public safety technology, communications, government policy, and the evolving operational needs of first responders.

His combined experience in technology, business, government, and firsthand public safety provides CPSA with a strategic, practical, and cost-conscious perspective on advancing the tools, technology, and resources available to first responders in service to their communities.

Jerry graduated from Rainier High School and later earned an associate degree from Portland Community College in 1993. He has served as an elected mayor for more than two decades, including approximately 24 years in that role, providing him with extensive experience in government administration, budgeting, infrastructure planning, public safety policy, economic development, and community decision-making. In the May 2026 election, Jerry was elected by Columbia County voters to serve as a County Commissioner beginning in 2027. His combined experience in emergency services and municipal leadership has given him a strong understanding of how public safety priorities are evaluated, funded, and implemented.

Jerry's combination of frontline public safety experience, government policy, and long-term executive leadership provides CPSA with a seasoned and practical perspective on supporting first responders and advancing the resources, technology, and infrastructure they rely on to serve their communities.
